The problem with email is its too easy and too quick. Any thought people have can be instantly transmitted without any real effort. This means that people will send things off that aren't really that important. In the Olden Days (tm) you'd have to handwrite or type a letter, get an envelope, mail it, etc. OR you'd have to call the person. And contrary to what the various Generations (c) now think, people didn't like using phones any better in the past. We developed caller ID and answering machines SPECIFICALLY to avoid having to talk on the phone. So it had to be pretty important back then to communicate a thought to another person. And when you did there was no expectation that you'd get an immediate response, because that was not how things worked. Nowadays [patent pending] people keep their emails always on and expect others to do so, and if you don't respond immediately they are shocked and offended.
